Golden Mountain

My journey to the Golden Mount or known as wat Saket starts here. Then I will take you somewhere else. Remove your shoes and come with me.
In temples you leave your shoes outside and also in thai homes.
Let's keep moving as there are steps to take to get up and then of course the weather today is not soooo good that is why we cannot take really great pictures. I know you will enjoy all the same

Save environment: Drink Beer

When you see a title like above what comes to your mind?
Home made beer I do not know if really to call it beer. Well, call it in any name and it will smell as sweet. The picture above is of homemade beer from honey and pressed sugarcanes, and then it is fermented in the kind of pot as you can see by the help of a fruit from a local tree.
Some of these cultures are dying out and if you are out there interested in making of documentaries of practises that are slowly dying out just get in touch with me and I will take you to a cultural discovery that nobody knows it exists.
Have a beer day will you?

Coffee: starbucks, coffee world or coffee beans

My travel to Thailand continue to be a journey of a lifetime, discoveries and one that will never be forgotten. 2 weeks ago I was a village boy who had never been out of my country, the great travel I had ever done was from my village to Nairobi. Now, I find myself in the land of smiles as everyone calls it.
Was thinking this morning as I passed through Starbucks coffee shop, all those people seated enjoying their iced moccha, or cappuccino or latte if they have ever seen coffee in their life. Was thinking of all those people in my village who work tirelessly in their coffee plantatations, never feel the rains as they pick their coffee and at the end who fetch very little that they cannot even afford to sit in a nice restaurant to have coffee forget about Starbucks etc.
Coming to the point of my story, when we had coffee in the family and we worked like hell, without even stopping for lunch, after which we carried everything on the back to the factory where the processing began. These coffee beans I carried on my back maybe ended in one of these high fashion shops who would tell farmers in my village, I will though bring with me some pictures of their sweat.
To cut a long story short I have a picture here from my village where you can see some coffee plantations. Watch this blog because I promise to bring to you live stories and presentations from my village featuring how life goes on and on. The only brew people can think of is the tea which can be more affordable than coffee.
While you enjoy your cappuccino at Starbucks or coffee beans or coffee world just think a second of a lifestory of mr.coffee.

Lipton: The journey from the farmer
On the background of the photo are the Tea estates in kenyan highlands. Tea is one of the Kenya's major export. Its grown on the Kenya's highlands where climate is cool. Its usually planted on slopy lands.his picture is taken in my village, Katheri where tea growing is a major source of income and most people work around these farms. Kenya production is almost exclusively CTC manufacture (cut, twist and curl). This type of manufacture produces strong-liquoring teas, which yield a high number of cups per kilo, when brewed both loose and in teabags. The bushes are harvested throughout the year, with the best quality being produced in January and February and again in July, during the drier periods of the year.
The major drawback in this area on tea farming is the infrastructure. The roads are impassable during the heavy rains and the farmers are to spend nights on the buying center waiting for truck.
My friend and I are coming up with a small project based on agricultural tourism where we can organise day trips to the farms and the factory. So if you have seen tea only in lipton form and you would like to follow the whole story from the farms to the cup, then I think next time you plan your trip think of Katheri farm visits.

Wedding planner revealed

My trip to Thailand is really turning to be an eye opener for me. When I'm back home I will be looking at things differently. My sister is living in a street in Bangkok full of wedding planning and especially photography business. So, every time I go out I'm remembered of all those weddings in my village and town that I could give a hand in planning.
Now, I'm just an accounting student (not certified wedding planner) but I would be happy to get a few coins helping out with ideas.
I am sure it needs a lot of planning and have a good eye for details to work in this business.
I'm going to look deeply into themes and of course budget (easy for me).
I have seen many shops with very lovely and glamorous looking wedding dresses. So, I might as well say this wedding business is interesting and will continue to glitter in my head as long as I pass infront of those wedding studios near my sisters

Sight seeing in Thailand
Wat Arun or better known as the temple of Dawn is one of the best known landmark in Thailand. Its images are the most published images in Bankok. The wat is seen better from across the river than below it. You can walk halfway up the stairs but be careful it is very steep. A visit costs 50 baht. This temple is open every day 8.30 to 5.30 everyday.
We took the elevated train to Saphan Taksin station which is the terminal station on the river. Then from there we took a boat (chao phraya express boat - 15 baht) to Tha Tien Pier. From their we crossed to wat arun by ferry for only 3 baht.
The view from the temple over Chao Phraya river is amazing.
